Air Fryer Chicken Wings From Frozen (3 Ways)

How do you like your air fryer chicken wings? My favourite is the KFC way with a bit of spice and a cool dipping sauce. Our son Jorge loves the BBQ chicken wings variety and Sofia our 4 year old will eat them anyway that they are given!

If there was an air fryer chicken wings eating competition for 4 year olds I am sure Sofia would win it! I have never known a small child love chicken wings as much as she does. She eats every last bit of flesh so that all you are left with is the bones.

Frozen Air Fryer Chicken Wings – 3 Ways!

Air Fryer Chicken Wings From Frozen (3 Ways)

I bought 3 packs of frozen chicken wings for making crispy air fryer chicken wings with for our readers. We have got asked a lot recently for how long to cook frozen wings in the air fryer for and we wanted to put a post or two together for you all.

I bought:

  • BBQ Chicken Wings
  • Hot & Spicy Chicken Wings
  • Southern Fried Chicken Wings (think copycat KFC)

I was going to blog about the best air fryer chicken wings, or what we felt was the best frozen wing. But they all tasted delicious and in the end it was nice to share 3 different varieties of air fryer chicken wings.

Air Fryer Chicken Wings Batch #1 = Hot & Spicy Chicken Wings

I used to hate the idea of hot and spicy chicken wings. I always imagined something like buffalo chicken wings that was going to be so hot that I would pass out. In fact, hot and spicy chicken wings was like Piri Piri Chicken from Nandos or a set of hot wings from KFC.

Air Fryer Chicken Wings Batch #2 = BBQ Chicken Wings

These are so good I couldn’t put down the wings. I’m not a big fan of wings but these were GOOD. Jorge at 2 who is too little for the Hot & Spicy Chicken Wings had a good batch of these and loved them. Especially if there was ketchup to dip in!

Air Fryer Chicken Wings Batch #3 = Southern Fried Chicken Wings

Reminding me of the same flavour as KFC chicken these were gone the fastest, so a good job I had bought a big portion of them for us all to share. I just wish I had made some coleslaw to go with it.

Air Fryer Chicken Wings Cook Time

It is so easy to learn the cook time for air fryer chicken wings. It is simply 12 minutes at 180c/360f if your air fryer is preheated.

Or 15 minutes at the same temperature if you’re cooking in your air fryer and have NOT preheated it.

Or another rule to consider, is if your chicken wings are really big, then to increase the air fryer cooking time to 15 minutes, or 18 minutes if not preheated.

I often find when you’re doing party food in the air fryer that you will have several batches to cook.

Treat the first round as the round when your air fryer is not preheated and the follow up rounds when it is.

Then just keep cooking and use a food warmer or the oven on low to keep the party food warm.

    • Hi Sinead,

Not tried it using the mealthy crisplid yet. If I was doing it with the crisplid I would recommend a pressure cook first, then crisp it with the crisplid.

      Kind regards
