Frozen Burritos In Air Fryer

It has been great fun updating our frozen burritos in the air fryer recipe. A chance to try lots of different frozen burritos and to see how well they do in the air fryer.

But its not our first taste of Mexico using our kitchen gadgets. So pause making our air fryer frozen burritos, for a minute and check out our air fryer chimichangas, air fryer chicken taquitos, air fryer frozen chicken taquitos, instant pot black beans and rice and don’t forget to check out yesterday’s addition of an air fryer chicken burrito bowl.

Now back to those air fryer frozen burritos!

When I think of Mexican food, my first thought is a yummy, crispy burrito loaded with as many fillings that will fit inside the burrito without it all falling out.

Its our first summer back in England. But my thoughts are back in Portugal where in the summer they had a festival that we enjoy going to. It is created for British Expats with a LOT of local businesses selling their services. You will see Jacuzzis for sale, plenty of window and blind companies for home renovations and a great dog show.

But what I enjoy most is the food court. With a special area just dedicated to food, there will be something for everyone.

My hubby, the Mexican hater that prefers British food will always see if the Fish & Chips is on. It rarely is and he is often disappointed.

Though last year I found a small little Mexican street food cart that sold the most delicious homemade burritos.

One for me of course and another for my burrito loving daughter. You see I waited 13 years to have a daughter that would share my love for every bit of food that Dominic hates.

While Dominic moaned yet again that Fish & Chips was not on, me and my daughter enjoyed delicious burritos in the Portuguese sunshine.

Then we finished with homemade crepes that all the family love.

Today, though is all about air frying frozen burritos and I can’t wait to dig in and share with you the ones I have found since moving back to England.

Cooking Frozen Burritos In Air Fryer

Back in 2020 we had the chance to try frozen burritos in the air fryer for the first time.

We went with the standard size of burritos and tried the following flavours:

  • Air Fryer Frozen Bean Burrito
  • Air Fryer Frozen Breakfast Burritos
  • Air Fryer Frozen Burritos El Monterey

They were all delicious. Though we thought the El Monterey were the best. Now we are back 2 years later and wanted to share with you reheating burritos in the air fryer, when you have bought them cooked, loaded them into the freezer and then reheated them.

And to look at mini frozen burritos in the air fryer too.

Then we can share with you the best frozen burritos for the air fryer.

Burritos – You can use any frozen burritos in the air fryer. When we originally shared how to air fry a burrito it was a Tina microwavable bean and cheese burrito. Yet in England we can’t buy them already frozen so instead we have been freezing our favourite fresh burritos.

Foil – The mini burritos that we cooked in the air fryer were from Morisson’s and very small and sticky. Because they were sticky we opted for some foil to sit them on to save cleaning the air fryer later.

You don’t need any egg wash because they brown up really well without it.

Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in this frozen burrito air fryer recipe it has just been our Philips Air Fryer XL. We have this one and its wonderful for many types of air fryer recipes.

And when we originally shared how to air fry a frozen burrito, it was the Power Air Fryer XL.

Plus, we recommend you head over to our air fryer recipes category as we have more than 500 tried and tested air fryer recipes and have been air frying for 10 years.

  • Load. Remove your frozen burritos from its packaging and add it to the air fryer basket. Make sure none of the burritos are sat on top of each other.
  • Cook. Then air fry frozen burritos for 6-35 minutes depending on their size.
  • Serve. Then serve whilst still hot and enjoy!

How Long To Cook Frozen Burritos In Air Fryer?

The air fryer frozen burrito time is JUST 6 minutes for a small burrito and that is because they are smaller than our air fryer frozen spring rolls.

But if you have extra large frozen burritos in an air fryer then note the cook time is much longer.

For example the big one we had took 35 minutes.

Can You Reheat A Burrito In An Air Fryer?

Yes you can. The air fryer is ideal for reheating your leftover burritos. Not that I ever have any burritos left, but you might!

I recommend reheating your air fryer burritos for 5 minutes at 160c/320f. Or to speed up the process slide them in half and cook for just 4 minutes.

I never thought of cooking my frozen burritos in the air fryer. That will be perfect for the homemade burritos that i make and then store in the freezer for later.

    • Hi Ty,

The egg wash is not compulsory just personal preference. We love the colour it gives to pastries as they can look pretty bland. Oil would do the same but would take longer to cook and then over cook the burrito 🙂
