Avocado Shrimp Cocktail. The quickest ever starter recipe that you could serve for your family this Christmas and so delicious too. Your family will think you’re amazing if you serve up this shrimp cocktail and that you are a goddess in the kitchen!
Can you believe that there is just 15 days until Christmas????
That time of the year when you are in Christmas mode and you’re trying to plan everything for that one day of the year. You have 20 people coming around for Christmas dinner, you also have a big family and loads of Christmas presents to wrap, plenty of grocery shopping to do and a Christmas dinner meal plan to think about.
Then you find out that out of the 20 that are coming for Christmas lunch, that 10 don’t like the homemade pate that you plan to make, 5 don’t like melon boats and then there is also some Paleo people coming that don’t like shrimp cocktails that are made with shop bought cocktail sauce.
You are really upset as you were really looking forward to your signature homemade duck pate being served for your Christmas day starter and are struggling for any ideas that you could possibly serve that would keep everyone happy.
Well this is when our avocado shrimp cocktail comes into play.
A homemade avocado shrimp sauce that keeps all the vegans, vegetarians, healthy eaters and comfort eaters happy. Then you have the shrimps at the top for dipping. Then even better, if you have vegans eating with you, then you can simply swap the shrimp for cucumber sticks instead. Then everyone is happy.
Plus, you have this amazing knowledge in the fact that this avocado shrimp cocktail took you less than 10 minutes to prepare for 20 people. This is also thanks to the blender and buying pre-cooked shrimps, but your guests of course will not know the difference.
Even better, it will be blended with chamomile green tea. This particular green tea is known for its light taste which is known for relaxing and comforting you. In turn this is perfect for your guests and chilling them out, so that they can forget about the stresses of life and get into the food for Christmas celebrations.
Then you can focus on your delicious moist roast turkey with all the trimmings and that is then one thing less to worry about.#Avocado #Shrimp #Cocktail recipe @recipe_thisClick To Tweet
Peel the avocado and remove the stone. Peel the garlic clove and chop into quarters.
Add to the blender the garlic and avocado.
Squeeze the juice from the lime over the blender.
Add the green tea.
Add the olive oil to the blender along with the seasoning.
Blend until smooth.
Add 250ml of water to thin out the sauce so that is like a salad dressing or a cocktail sauce.
Decorate your cocktail glasses with the salad dressing, an extra squeeze of lime, fresh herbs and your shrimps.
This avocado shrimp cocktail recipe is for 4 people. As we are often catering for more people at Christmas, remember to adapt the recipe based on how many people you’re serving. Even though this avocado shrimp recipe is based around Christmas it can of course be used for any dinner party or weddings, christenings or family gathering.
You can also place them into little plastic cups for parties. For every four people that I serve I will empty one teabag into the avocado blender sauce. If you want your avocado sauce to be thicker, then reduce the amount of water you add by half. Or if you would like it creamy add ¼ of the usual water and then 60ml of coconut milk. Always remember to taste your avocado dressing as you go. You can always add more water to it, or more garlic to it, but you can’t take it away.
After yesterday and introducing you to the GoTo tea and their Dieter’s Green Tea I am back today with another helping of green tea. This time it is chamomile green tea used to make this delicious avocado shrimp cocktail.
Here are 10 reasons to buy this GoTo Chamomile Green Tea:
- Good iced or hot
- Great for easing tension
- High in flavonoids
- High quality
- Made in the U.S.
- No added sugars
- No bitterness
- Two ingredients
Our verdict – GoTo Tea’s Chamomile Green Tea contains just two ingredients. It contains chamomile flowers and decaffeinated green tea. While some decaf teas have an unpleasant bitterness, you won’t find that here. I couldn’t tell from the taste that this is a decaf green tea.
It’s a very pleasant green tea. I’ve been drinking chamomile tea for years as it is beneficial in times of stress and anxiety. It’s known to have properties that help with relaxation. The lack of caffeine makes it ideal for bedtime. There’s no added sugar, sodium, or artificial ingredients.
The tea from New Midori Trading is also very easy to make. Add hot water and let the tea bag steep for three minutes or until it’s the desired strength. If you want it iced, let the tea bag steep in filtered water overnight in the fridge.
You can use the tea in baked goods, too. As there’s no added sugar, you can use it in place of water in almost any recipe. It’s great in scones, bread, and cookies. Seriously try replacing water for this tea in your favorite sweet bread recipe. You’ll get rave reviews.
Overall – Chamomile Green Tea is a favourite in my household. Green tea is high in catechins. For years, these polyphenolic compounds have been found to help with inflammation. It’s a healthy beverage that I don’t feel needs to be sweetened at all.
I love that this one from GoTo Tea tastes so good. The chamomile is mellow, which allows the green tea to take center stage. I’ve grown used to the bitterness, but now I don’t have to settle for inferior quality. With 20 tea bags in one box, I also love that I’m getting a lot of tea for the money.
Best Feature – For us the best feature has to be that out of all the teas featured this one is the easiest to use in recipes. It has such an amazing flavour and is just asking to be baked.
