Chocolate Cream Cheese Fruit Dip = the fruit dip recipe for lazy people. For people that are in a rush and want something quick that will give them their sweet kick without having to get the chocolate fondue out or without making a cake or cookie some naughty cookies.
I have a lot of days when I feel lazy. I see these mums that have just had their babies and run food blogs like us and they get the opportunity to shut down the blog and not think about it for six months. Us on the other hand run RecipeThis.com as our only income so we don’t have the same luxury.
While I was in hospital with my beautiful newborn Jorge I was still answering messages, and making sure everything was running smoothly. Though our content was of course 6 weeks in advance, so I didn’t need to worry about recipe testing.
After he was a month old I was still doing 12 hours a day, 6 days a week and working on growing the blog. I thought I can do this for 4 months or so as when he sleeps through it will be easy.
Yet there he is at 13 months and still not sleeping through.
Now every conversation seems to start when people ask me how I am, with me saying how tired I am!
That is why I need something like a chocolate cream cheese fruit dip in my life. I want to be able to quickly chop fruit, throw the chocolate cream cheese fruit dip ingredients into a mixing bowl and then mix it with my hand mixer and then serve it up.
Much better than my previous habit of just buying 6 bars of chocolate and then eating them as I am working. Or recently on a binge I finished off a can of condensed milk that I had turned into caramel.
I first got into the cream cheese fruit dip craze after making the very first cheesecake for Recipe This. I never got the obsession with cream cheese sweetened and all of a sudden, I was in sweet treats heaven. Even now when my sweet tooth comes calling a big bowl of cream cheese, chocolate and some sweetener is like my new heaven. You can also change it by swapping chocolate for a fruit flavouring or even by doing a very addictive white chocolate version.
Swapping White Sugar For Stevia
One thing that is often forgotten about is how much sweetener you need to use to substitute your white sugar or brown sugar. It can of course differ from brand to brand. For example, Dominic uses a cheap supermarket brand on his Bran Flakes for breakfast and is often using a lot compared to white sugar.
But with this brand it is so simple. It’s as easy as the following:
- 1 Packet of SweetLeaf Stevia = 2Tsp White Sugar
- 3 Packets of SweetLeaf Stevia = 1Tbsp White Sugar
- 12 Packets of SweetLeaf Stevia = ¼ Cup White Sugar
- 24 Packets of SweetLeaf Stevia = ½ Cup White Sugar
- 48 Packets of SweetLeaf Stevia = 1 Cup White Sugar
- In a mixing bowl add your cream cheese, cocoa powder and vanilla essence and mix until nice and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg.
- Using a small mixing bowl melt your chocolate in the Airfryer and when it has cooled down enough stir it into the bowl, a bit at a time.
- Place in the freezer for 20 minutes so that it can stiffen up some more.
- Serve with fresh fruit.
We used Philadelphia Cream Cheese just because it tastes amazing and is just perfect for whipping up into a pudding. Any plain cream cheese will do the trick. You can use any chocolate to melt into your cream cheese fruit dip, but I personally prefer to use some milk chocolate. If you are not a budget I would go with Lindt because alongside Philadelphia for the cheese it would be 100% luxury.
I use an Airfryer to melt my chocolate, but you could use a microwave or do it the old school way on the top of a stove. I use egg in this recipe. That is because it gives it a mousse type of taste and is perfect for stretching the chocolate cream cheese fruit dip that little bit further. But if you are allergic to eggs then I would recommend replacing it with 2tbsp of Greek Yoghurt instead.
