Instant Pot Frozen Meatballs

Yesterday I shared with how to make a simple lunch with instant pot frozen Italian sausages.

Today let’s celebrate the love for meatballs with instant pot frozen meatballs!

My first memory of meatballs comes from the movie Lady & The Tramp. We all have that Disney movie from childhood that we want to binge watch over and over again.

To the level that every adult ends up hating the movie because you have made them watch it so much.

That was me with Lady & The Tramp. I loved the animal voiceovers, the romantic rich and poor story and don’t they make eating spaghetti and meatballs look so amazing.

There they are on a date with a food that always makes a mess and as human grownups we couldn’t think of anything worse.

It was many years later when I had the pleasure of trying homemade meatballs for the first time.

You see I had them out of can and they were heated up in the microwave. They were not homemade ones or anything special and I soon grew to hate them.

My grandparents would take me for dinner after grocery shopping and I would always have spaghetti and meatballs and that’s when I realised how good they tasted and I can see now why so many people want to take their favourite meatballs to the instant pot.

Frozen Meatballs In Instant Pot Pressure Cooker

Unlike childhood memories of meatballs out of a can, one of the great achievements of the instant pot is the ability to cook meat from frozen and make it taste good.

Yes, lots of gadgets can cook frozen meat, but how often does it taste good???

But what you also need to remember is you can choose the quality of the frozen meatballs you cook in the instant pot.

You can meal prep your own homemade meatballs recipe and then freeze them and cook from frozen later.

Or you can use shop bought frozen meatballs, or even Swedish Meatballs from IKEA the choice is YOURS!

Best Instant Pot Frozen Meatballs

I have this love/hate relationship with my local supermarket. It has wonderful cheap prices, wonderful staff and lots of special offers for locals. They even have good loyalty cards, which not many supermarkets have.

But what I hate is the lack of choice.

One of the areas that it lacks choice is with meat. Anything made from ground meat is awful, many meats such as oxtail is never available, and my favourite beef shin is only in stock at Christmas.

Therefore, when it comes to buying ground beef to make in my meatballs, I always buy it from Makro or Lidl.

But as my meatballs are often way too big compared to many people’s, I have used Lidl’s delicious fresh meatballs today.

I froze them after purchase, and I am now cooking the meatballs from frozen in the instant pot today.

But that is the frozen meatballs I use, and you can choose your own favourite.

Making Frozen Meatballs In Instant Pot

My meatballs that I am cooking from frozen are your classic Italian, lets serve them with spaghetti ones. But you can mix it up with what meatballs you like to eat.

Here are a few examples of frozen meatballs in the instant pot to try out:

  • Instant Pot Frozen Meatballs With Teriyaki
  • Instant Pot Frozen Meatballs with Sweet & Sour Sauce
  • Instant Pot Frozen Meatballs & BBQ Sauce
  • Instant Pot Frozen Meatballs & Gravy
  • Instant Pot Frozen Meatballs & Marinara Sauce
  • Instant Pot Frozen Asian Meatballs
  • Instant Pot Frozen Chicken Meatballs
  • Instant Pot Frozen Turkey Meatballs
  • Instant Pot Frozen Swedish Meatballs

With that list I am sure you are thinking of some ideas of how you can mix and match the frozen meatballs to suit you.

Cooking frozen meatballs is lazy and here are the simple steps to follow:

  1. Load your tinned tomatoes into the instant pot.
  2. Add seasoning and mix.
  3. Dump frozen meatballs on top.
  4. Place the lid on the instant pot and cook for 8 minutes.
  5. Load onto dinner plates and enjoy.

Instant Pot Frozen Meatballs Cook Time

These instant pot frozen meatballs require JUST 8 minutes of cook time. This ensures that the meatballs are thoroughly cooked.

Even better it doesn’t matter the size of your meatballs as this cooking time suits all.

How Do You Reheat Meatballs In An Instant Pot?

It is even easier when you reheat your meatballs in an instant pot. What I do is serve the food from the instant pot and what is left in the inner pot, can then be reheated for later.

When you are ready to reheat, your meatballs place the lid on your instant pot and set the valve to sealing. Set the time to 0 minutes on manual and when it beeps that its done, they are ready to eat.
