Chicken Wings In Ninja Foodi

If you have been a Recipe This reader for a while, you will know that I am obsessed with chicken wings. I was the first to show people how to cook air fryer frozen chicken wings, I love to make instant pot frozen chicken wings, and I have an addiction to TGI Friday’s boneless chicken wings.

But I wanted to see how chicken wings in the Ninja Foodi would compare to chicken wings using a traditional air fryer.

After all, I notice that the Ninja Foodi air fryer is a few minutes slower, but the Ninja Foodi is much easier to clean.

With the mess that chicken wings can make I was keen to do a comparison.

I went to the butchers and ordered a big bag of marinated chicken wings. They were smothered in barbecue sauce and ideal for my experiment.

When I arrived home, I separated the bag of barbecue wings into two bags. One bag would head to the freezer so that I could cook for you frozen wings and the other batch would remain thawed for traditional chicken wings.

They would both be loaded into the Ninja Foodi air fryer and I would compare notes.

Can You Air Fry Wings In The Ninja Foodi?

Yes, you can air fry wings in the Ninja Foodi and you will love them. I use the Ninja Foodi air fryer basket when I am doing Ninja Wings but you can also pressure cook your wings if you prefer.

The easiest way to air fry wings in the Ninja is to air fry like you are doing dry rub wings, then toss in your favourite sticky sauce before serving.

Can You Air Fry Frozen Wings In The Ninja?

Yes, you can also cook a batch of your favourite frozen chicken wings in the air fryer, including in the Ninja Foodi.

If you want to go frozen, then I recommend you check out our frozen chicken wings air fryer recipe.

Fresh Wings In Ninja Foodi

Fresh wings in the Ninja Foodi are the easiest. Just because you don’t have to worry about them being frozen and can dump the fresh chicken wings into the Ninja Foodi and let your magical gadget do the hard work!

You can also use any marinade or dry rub that you want.

As you know, we got BBQ chicken wings from the butchers, but you can use any flavouring. For example, my favourite is Chinese like our air fryer Chinese chicken wings recipe.

Chicken Wings Ninja Foodi Ingredients

Frozen Wings In Ninja Foodi

Wings – We used one 500g pack of chicken wings from the butchers that had already been marinated. I just love the butchers for their prepped meat! That’s just over 1lb of wings and you can buy them plain and add your own seasoning or do the same as us for your ninja air fryer wings.

Seasoning.  Ninja Foodi wings is all about the great flavour you can keep it simple by making ninja foodi dry rub chicken wings, or you can make sticky wings such as adding 240ml/1 cup of hot sauce, barbecue sauce, or even make them Chinese with some teriyaki sauce.

Air Fryer Basket – Because this is a ninja air fryer chicken wings recipe, we used the Ninja air fryer basket inside of the Ninja cooking pot. It’s a fantastic size for a good portion of wings and fits it in perfectly.

Can You Recommend A Ninja Foodi?

I often get asked which kitchen gadgets I recommend and which one I use. For the Ninja Foodi we have this one. It doesn’t have as many bells and whistles compared to some of the newer models, but it does a great job.

We can dehydrate, air fry, pressure cook, sauté, slow cook, make yoghurt and so much more.

Plus, we recommend you head over to our ninja foodi recipes category as we have been using the Ninja Foodi since 2020 and just love it for simplicity, how delicious the recipes are when cooked in it and how much time it saves us in the kitchen. We even take the Ninja Foodi on holiday with us.

How To Air Fry Chicken Wings In Ninja Foodi?

ninja foodi chicken wings step by step
  • Prepare. Place the chicken wings into a mixing bowl, add the seasonings and mix well with your hands. Then allow the chicken wings to marinate for an hour in your fridge covered in cling film (plastic wrap) before air frying.
  • Air Fry. Next place the chicken wings into the air fryer basket and the air fryer basket into the ninja cooking pot. Then air fry ninja wings for 10 minutes at 200c/400f.
  • Turn. Then lift the air fryer lid and turn the ninja chicken wings for an even cook. Then cook for the same time and temp again or until fully cooked and crispy.

You now have ninja foodi air fryer chicken wings ready for serving your guests.

How To Make Buffalo Wings In Ninja Foodi? If you love buffalo wings, then you can make some delicious ninja foodi buffalo wings just by adding in some buffalo sauce. When you marinate the wings, instead of a barbecue sauce, use some buffalo sauce and then you are ready for air frying them.

How To Make Hot Wings In A Ninja Foodi? Ninja Foodi hot wings are also a great option. Then just like with buffalo wings in the Ninja, you can swap the marinated sauce for hot sauce. In my opinion the best ninja foodi wings are ones made with hot sauce!

How to cook chicken wings in the dual ninja air fryer? If you are using a dual air fryer, then you can make it the same way, but you can double your portion because the air fryer will hold more, or you can just do one drawer of wings.

Ninja Foodi dry rub chicken wings. Another option especially if you want crispy chicken wings is to use some seasoning and some extra virgin olive oil. Mix them together with your wings and they are delicious.

How Long To Cook Chicken Wings In Ninja Air Fryer?

Many people ask “how many minutes do you put chicken wings in the air fryer” and I always say the ninja air fryer chicken wings time and temp is about 20 minutes at the max temperature.

So for the average ninja air fryer the max is usually for air frying 200c/400f.
