Welcome to the Philips Airfryer Vs Instant Pot Electric Pressure Cooker.
You’re probably reading this and wondering the same thing that I was thinking before I purchased my electric pressure cooker after already owning a Philips Airfryer and that is should you have both? If not which one should you buy and of course which one is the right one for you?
Our Story & Our Kitchen Gadgets
First of all let’s start at the beginning and let us explain what kitchen gadgets we own and the ones that we will own for a long time. You see we are food bloggers that specialise in kitchen gadgets and we often get products to test, to which we test them and then sell them as we don’t want them taking up room in our kitchen if we are not going to use them very often.
But the kitchen gadgets that we talk about all the time on Recipe This are ones that we have a lifetime bond with and which we will carry on making recipes with for a very long time and what we consider well worth the initial investment in buying them.
We love our soup maker and the fact that we can create blended soup in one machine. You throw in the different ingredients such as the vegetables and stock, and then 28 minutes later you have perfectly blended creamy soup.
It is perfect for if you are on a diet and want a low calorie diet or like us if you just love a bowl of soup with your leftover vegetables and some warm crusty bread.
We also have a fantastic blender. It is very powerful business like one that we use whenever we need to. It works much better than our cheap food processor and is always on the go for smoothies, sauces, breadcrumbs and making marinades.
I know I gain 10 pounds just by looking at it. It is a professional one, takes up loads of room in my cupboard but does an amazing job. It is also a great frugal investment as making your own ice cream is so much cheaper than buying it. And all those delicious flavours you can put into it is truly delicious.
We technically have three of these. One of them is built into our Instant Pot then we also have a small old one that is in the style of the Crockpot brand. Then we have our modern one from Lakeland that we were given by the brand just before we launched Recipe This. We will happily keep all three forever (well until they are too worn out to use anymore) and we love the speed of the Instant Pot version, the fact that our old Crockpot one is nice and compact for lasagne and our big one for everything else!

Talking about the Instant Pot this is also a big part of our kitchen and we use it for a range of meals. It does our whole chicken, stews, casseroles, steams everything, makes homemade yoghurt and jams and so much more.
Then there is our Philips Airfryer. It is battered and bruised then battered and bruised some more. That is because it has done more than five years and is still going strong even though it is in much need of a replacement!
We will update it when we get the chance but it does great for now.
In it we can make crispy whole chickens, pies, chips, puddings, cookies, KFC copycat chicken and so much more.
It gives us the ability to cook without or with very little oil and is perfect for eating bad food in a good way.
And this last bit is where most people get lost…..
Philips Airfryer Vs Instant Pot Electric Pressure Cooker – The Decision
You see they hear all about the Instant Pot and how quick it is too eat all these lovely meals. They can have hearty stews and soups in it, roast a chicken in half the time, cook perfectly boiled eggs and so much more.
Then someone mentions the Philips Airfryer and how you can have a diet version of a KFC that tastes just as good and you are suddenly torn. Soup of course is really nice but it will never compare to a homemade KFC!
Then all of sudden it is product choice overload and you don’t know where to go. My answer to this is ALWAYS ask yourself what you would want it for the most. Are you interested in weight loss and a replacement for the calories that you would normally spend on lots of takeaways? Or are you using it to heat up your food and serve your kids nutritious food when they come home from school?
If the answer is YES to the above then you need a Philips Airfryer
Alternatively are you into the kitchen gadget so that you can be lazy and cook things quicker in one pot? Or you want to make loads of casseroles and stews and allow it to replace your other kitchen gadgets?
If the answer is YES to the above then you need an Instant Pot Electric Pressure Cooker
So we all know why we each like a certain recipe but what about a recipe comparison? Below I have highlighted my all time favourite recipes for each of the kitchen gadgets and hopefully it will help you make up your mind over which one to buy.
5 Instant Pot Electric Pressure Cooker Recipes That YOU Must Try This Week
This is my personal favourite out of all the recipes we have done so far. It involves cheap cuts of red meat cooked slowly and tenderly to perfection in the Instant Pot. Perfect for a very frugal beef stew and out of this world delicious.
Another great of the Instant Pot has to be boiled eggs. They are perfectly cooked and so simple. Forget the days when you had holes in your eggs because you couldn’t get the shell off correctly – this is the real deal.
These Instant Pot ribs will make you want to go back for more and more. Full of flavour and the meat just falls off the bone.
A personal favourite in the Milner house this delicious fully loaded potato soup is delicious, full of flavour and cooked really fast (compared to a traditional recipe) thanks to the skill of the Instant Pot.
This is another favourite of mine. It reminds me of growing up and its such a frugal family meal too. Full of flavour and thanks to the Instant Pot you lose that horrible rubbery flavour that you can get too often if you cook the livers in a pan.
5 Philips Airfryer Recipes That YOU Must Try This Week
OMG now this is one of those stunning recipes that you must try out in your Airfryer. Just like KFC but with a lot less calories and they taste amazing. I could eat these everyday for the rest of my life and NEVER get sick of them.
If we are talking popcorn chicken then we must have some French Fries to acompany them! These are lovely and taste as good as what you get at the chip shop or at McDonalds.
These were one of the first ever recipes that I published on Recipe This for the Airfryer. They are delicious and make you wish that you had an endless supply of chicken wings.
I love chocolate cake and when it can be made so perfectly in the Airfryer who needs the oven? It is perfect for birthdays, special occasions or when you just fancy a sweet moment!
So here I was with four already for this list and was about to shout to my son what his favourite was. But I already knew this would be his answer. That is because he is a typical teenager and loves his burgers and this version is so easy and you will end up wanting to come back for more and more.
If I Was Broke I Would Buy?
So all the kitchen gadgets I have mentioned above cost money. Some of them are cheap and some of them are expensive. They all offer value for money because of how much use you can get out of them and how long they will last.
But if you are broke affording a kitchen gadget can be expensive so you are probably wondering where to start and what you should buy if you are broke?
Well if I was broke the kitchen gadget I would buy would be the Instant Pot Electric Pressure Cooker. This is because you can use really cheap food into it and have it coming out tasting amazing. I used some beef scraps to make the most delicious beef stew with it and I am constantly trying out new things in it. You can use leftovers to make a range of dishes and have no excuse for eating out thanks to what the Instant Pot can make you.
If You’re NOT Broke Buy Both!
Or you can be like me and have both of them! I chose to have both because I love stews and casseroles but I also love to have them with really crispy roast potatoes or to make burgers and chips.
We own this Philips Airfryer as well as the Instant Pot Duo and our kitchen would be lost without them. We love what we can cook in them and if you shop savvy on Amazon you can grab them when they are on offer and save a small fortune. For example we notice that there is always a summer sale, Thanksgiving sale and a Christmas sale.
