Welcome to my Airfryer Pumpkin Tortilla Chips recipe. A delicious seasonal use of your leftover pumpkin and perfect for a quick snack for you and your kids. Made with homemade pumpkin tortillas and air fried to a perfect crisp.
But without further a do…..Happy Halloween.
Halloween in my world is the birthday of my mum and her twin sister. A day of watching my mum get ready for a party in fancy dress as I was growing up to a day taking my kids out for pizza.
Pizza you say? YES because for many years we have always spent Halloween at Pizza Hut. Where we lived in our 20’s the neighbourhood would be full of trick or treaters and there has always been the urge to flee.
The chance to go out and have a family meal instead of answering the door every 5 seconds. Plus I am sure compared to handing out a LOT of sweets that we were better off financially sharing a pizza. We would share a cheese stuffed crust, some potato wedges, some cookie dough and then head home.
I know. I know. Not very Halloween spirited. BUT they never stopped and half the time they would come around late and it would wake up our baby (he is now 16) or they would be teenagers looking for cigarette money!
I have also spent many, many Halloweens in countries that simply don’t celebrate the tradition. The Greek Isles, Spain, Portugal & France have all taken my attention on Halloween and apart from sharing the special day with my mum it has always passed me by.
But now having 2 under 3s on Halloween there is this urge to get involved. To in celebrate the day with lots of pumpkin and other in season food.
So today instead of just eating excessive amounts of pumpkin soup we decided to make some pumpkin tortilla wraps. Then wrap several of them up for dinner and then save the rest to make Pumpkin Tortilla Chips in the Airfryer.
I mean imagine that for a moment. Not just potato chips, but pumpkin flavoured in the Airfryer. Now this is something different, that is for sure!
Then you could serve them up with some pumpkin flavoured hummus for the dream Halloween feast.

- Make the pumpkin tortillas just like you would with regular wraps just substituting less butter and less milk for pumpkin puree. Then cook them in a frying pan like you normally would.
- Prepare the chips – brush oil on one side of each of the 6 tortilla wraps. Then stack them and cut into tortilla chip shapes. Arrange them on the grill pan for your Airfryer and sprinkle with nutmeg, salt and pepper.
- Air fry at 200c/400f for 18 minutes or until golden brown.
- Serve with pumpkin puree dipping sauce.
Use whatever your favourite pumpkin pie seasonings are. Here in Portugal we can’t get pumpkin pie spice, so instead we use nutmeg with mixed spice.
You could make whatever flavour tortilla chips that you wanted, based on whatever ingredients you had in. My original tortilla wraps recipe makes 6 wraps.
This is the amount we used to make them into Tortilla Chips. Depending on how many you wanted you could increase/decrease this recipe.
