Slow Cooker Shredded Chicken. If there is just one thing we should all learn how to cook in our slow cookers it must be slow cooker shredded chicken. It is very easy to cook shredded chicken in the slow cooker; the chicken is super moist and the taste is truly amazing.
In the final 3 of my series of shredded chicken in my kitchen gadget comes slow cooker shredded chicken.
We had already shown you how to cook:
Now it’s the turn of the kitchen gadget that we owned first = the slow cooker. We first got our slow cooker as a second-hand gift back in early 2004. Since then it has travelled with us. We brought it to Portugal with us when we moved over from the UK. As well as this it has been on many family holidays with us too.
It’s only a small one and even has a chip in the lid but we would be lost without it.
It also works perfectly for cooking slow cooker shredded chicken in.
What I love about slow cooker shredded chicken compared to air fryer or instant pot shredded chicken, is the simplicity. A few basic ingredients are thrown into the slow cooker and then the slow cooker does the work for you. Plus, the tell tale that it is cooked, is the fact that the chicken aroma smells out the house.
All of a sudden, your nose gets excited by the smell and everyone is suddenly asking if dinner is going to be ready soon!!!
Slow Cooker Shredded Chicken
#1 Place the ingredients into the slow cooker
You can literally throw them in like you do with a dump and go slow cooker meal. No need to mix them just throw them in and put the lid on the Slow Cooker.
#2 Mix & Shred
After 3 hours on high in the slow cooker, get the chicken out, shred it and place it back in the slow cooker. Using your hands (as long as its not too hot) mix the chicken and the tomatoes.
#3 Final Slow Cook
Then for a final 30 minutes cook the shredded chicken on low. This will help reduce the liquid and give you an amazing final Mediterranean shredded chicken recipe.#SlowCooker Shredded #Chicken #Recipe @recipe_thisClick To Tweet
Place all the ingredients into the slow cooker and cook on high for 3 hours.
After 3 hours remove the chicken breasts and place on a chopping board. Shred them with either your hands or a knife and fork.
Place the shredded chicken back into the slow cooker. Give it a good stir and make sure the tomatoes are well covered with the chicken.
Cook for the last 30 minutes so that the liquid reduces.
You can also cook it for 8 hours on low, followed by 10 minutes on high at the end. This would be better if you are at work all day. If you want a different flavour such as mushrooms, then replace a regular can of tinned tomatoes with a mushroom flavoured one. Our favourite way to eat our shredded chicken is over some couscous. Or you could serve it with some rice.
