Syn Free Slimming World Sausage Rolls cooked in the Air Fryer. Easy to prep, easy to cook and a dream treat on Slimming World or Weight Watchers.
I LOVE sausage rolls. I love the meaty filling. I love the crunchy pastry crust and I am always upset when they are all GONE. I can’t remember when the addiction to sausage rolls started but it’s always been a staple of my diet. Especially for picnics, Christmas and buffet food.
DON’T judge me now, but sausage rolls bought from Iceland frozen was one of the first things I cooked in the air fryer when we bought it.
MOST of the time I make my sausage rolls myself. Grab some sausage meat, make some homemade shortcrust pastry and then cook them in the oven.
BUT I had some spare sausage meat left over from a roast dinner a couple of weeks ago and tried them out with some spare Weight Watchers Wraps.
I SERVED them to Dominic and the kids for lunch and they thought I was super woman. Not only had I gutted the kitchen but I had made them homemade sausage rolls.
I had to CONFESS and mention that I had put some sausage meat inside a Weight Watchers Wrap and that they had just enjoyed a diet version of their favourite sausage rolls.
Well they all LOVED them and asked me when I was going to make them again. And that is when the Weight Watchers Wraps made their way into the Milner kitchen on a regular basis.
Next time you want some sausage rolls but can’t bare the Syns in them, then this SYN FREE version of sausage rolls is dedicated to YOU!
Syn Free Slimming World Sausage Rolls
I must warn you now, that the original sausage rolls I had served up for the kids was not Syn Free as I had used cheap sausage meat that was probably loaded with lots of fatty and over processed pork.
But it is very easy to make a SYN FREE version of Slimming World Sausage Rolls with just one main modification. That is to swap your cheap sausage meat for either some lean minced pork or a mixture of minced pork and minced chicken.
I find the best option for making Syn Free Slimming World Sausage Rolls is to use lean pork mince. It is an amazing meat and because it is slightly wet compared to how dry chicken mince is, that it works as a combo alongside the wraps and you don’t need to add loads of other ingredients to make it work.
Then you season your mince with a salt, pepper and thyme and then mix it up in a bowl. Add it to your wraps and you’re all set!
I always roll them up first and then decide whether or not I want them sliced. Sliced of course turns them into those cute little sausage rolls that you get at Christmas time or when you attend a wedding.
After they are chopped it’s a case of adding some egg wash and cooking them in the air fryer. They take a little longer than other pasties because the meat hasn’t been cooked yet, but the smell of them cooking will drive you crazy, especially if you’re starving hungry!
