Welcome to my Whole 30 Prawn & Avocado Salad recipe. Delicious just cooked prawns with avocado, cucumber, salad greens and the best salad dressing that you have ever tried.
This recipe came about when I thought about what we should all eat when we go out for lunch when we are on the Whole 30.
I have a restaurant (though I should say it is more buffet like) that we go to when we can. It is about 30 minutes drive away, though if it was closer we would be going more often.
It is Brazilian food and there is a lot of hearty delicious dishes to go at. You have salads, soups, breads, rice dishes. Then you have loads of baked chicken, baked fish and the king prawns are just amazing.
I don’t normally have much bread or rice because it fills me up too quickly. So all that is left that is not Whole 30 approved is the salad sauces. And who really needs them when you have all these amazing extra virgin olive oils and salad dressings.
I always sit there with this huge bowl of prawns. They are freshly cooked and I peel them as I eat them.
So if you are eating out on the Whole 30, then find your dream place and then go as much or as little as you like and then the Whole 30 will feel more like a lifetime rather than a one off month.
Then I will have soup and some baked chicken and then because the prawns are just so good I will probably end on them.
So that’s the inspiration for this recipe. Delicious steamed prawns that are cooked from fresh in the Instant Pot + a delicious homemade salad dressing mixed in the blender. And then to finish the Whole 30 dream salad is some greens, avocado and cucumber.

Place the cup of water in the bottom of the Instant Pot and place the prawns in the steamer basket on top of the steamer shelf. Steam for 2 minutes remembering to set the valve to sealing. Peel the prawns and dress with lemon juice and salt and pepper and then put to one side.
In a blender add the olive oil, 1/8th of the avocado flesh, rind from the lemons, white wine vinegar and the rest of the seasonings.
Pour the salad dressing into the bottom of a dish, throw the salad greens over it and then toss it in your hands so that the salad is well covered in the dressing.
Slice and place over it small chunks of avocado and cucumber.
Serve with the fresh prawns.
Always give your salad greens a good clean before using them, even if you have bought a salad bag. As they can carry a lot of dirt and small insects love to live in salad greens.
Whole 30 Day 25
I am back with my day 25 on the Whole 30. One thing that is discussed a lot during the Whole 30 is dreaming about cheating. Where you have a vivid dream about eating something you shouldn’t and then wake up feeling guilty. I was starting to wonder if this was going to pass me by…but no last night I dreamt about eating a full box of After 8 Mints and even worse….I don’t even like them!
So if you do dream about chocolate, wine or even a Big Mac then beware that it is perfectly normal.
What I ATE On Day TWENTY FIVE Of The Whole 30
I was still not 100% after feeling ill yesterday so I didn’t have the same amount of food that I would normally have. But I am determined for day 26 to get back into it and have 3 equal meal sizes again ready for the last 5 days.
Breakfast = Banana
Lunch = Sausage, Egg & Chips
Dinner = Avocado & Prawn Salad
For breakfast again I had a banana, looked at my incredibly low blood pressure and wished it would hurry up and rise up for me. Like that is ever going to happen!!!!
For lunch because I am dreaming about loads of comfort food I went with the closest thing to badness that I could find that was Whole 30 complaint. It was sausage, egg and chips. A true British favourite and so good for making me feel better. I had one fried egg, small portion of chips in the Airfryer and then my favourite Whole 30 friendly turkey sausages.
Then for dinner in the evening we had avocado and prawn salad. So good and perfect for something refreshing when it is warm to make me feel human again.
