Ingredients

Instructions

  • Start by making the toffee sauce. Add the sugar and water into a saucepan and place on high heat. Using a wooden spoon constantly stir until you see a slight change in the colour. Take it off the heat and add the butter. Wait until the butter has melted and make sure you stir it regularly. Once the butter has melted return it to the heat. Keep stirring and it will come to the boil. When it turns into a light brown colour add your milk. Keep stirring until you bring it back to the boil and take off the heat and keep stirring. You now have your lovely filling!
  • Place the bottom of your pan into some cool water so that it can cool before you make dulce de leche with it.
  • Gently add your sauce to your ice cream inside the ice cream maker and create swirls as you go so you have that lovely dulce de leche look.
  • Place the ice cream maker on for 20 minutes to complete your ice cream.
  • Place in the freezer for a couple of hours and then serve.

Notes

This recipe will make you just over a pint of dulce de leche and will feed the family after a meal or as a very naughty helping for yourself. You can also add other things to it so it suits your taste more such as chocolate chips or inserting cookie dough.
Please note your pan will be very hot when making the sauce so be careful and handle with care.
