Instructions

  • Break your lasagne sheets in half and cook them in a pan of warm water until they get to the boil. As soon as they start boiling, turn off the heat and leave for a couple of minutes. Then drain them from the water and place on a worktop to cool.
  • Break up the lasagne sheets with your hands and carefully place them around the bottom and sides of the moulds. If you are using tiny lasagne pieces then cover the bottom and the sides of the cup until you cant see the silver of the cup anymore.
  • Fill the bottom of your lasagne cups with Bolognese, followed by a teaspoon in each of soft cheese, followed by a layer of either grated cheese or cheese sauce.
  • Sprinkle the top with some oregano.
  • Place them in the Airfryer and cook for 5 minutes on 180c/360f.

Notes

You could fill these lasagne cups with whatever lasagne recipe you are following. For example a veggie option with ricotta and spinach would also be delicious. To get the professional look, simply spread a lasagne sheet (when softened) around the edges of some silver cupcake moulds.

It comes out looking like something out of a cookery magazine and your guests would be very impressed. As a general rule 1 full sized lasagne sheet will do 3 lasagne cups. Therefore if you want to make enough for 9 lasagne cups then you will need 3 lasagne sheets. I used these silver baking cups to make my lasagne cups in. You could use these or some muffin cases. It’s a balancing act with the lasagne sheets.

You don’t want them to get too cold but you want them so that they are not too hot so that you can’t touch them. The general rule is that each lasagne cup should have 1tbsp of Bolognese. Otherwise it is like jam tarts when you fill them too full and they explode. You can also make these lasagne cups at the same time as a traditional lasagne, then just cook the rest at the same time, then you can freeze them if you wish.

The lasagne sheets after being boiled, need to be just soft so that they are flexible for making cups with and not over cooked. This is because the Airfryer carries on cooking them and they can end up like over cooked lasagne otherwise or not do the right shapes that you want.
