Instructions

  • Place all your hot pepper sauce ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Place it into a large bowl.
  • In another bowl add your flour and add the spicy flour ingredients. Mix with a fork until the flour has a glow to it from the seasonings.
  • Butterfly the chicken breasts so that your 2 chicken breasts become 4 pieces.
  • Season the top of the butterflied chicken with salt, pepper and paprika.
  • Place the chicken into the flour bowl, then into the hot pepper sauce bowl, then back in the flour. Make sure with each coating that you make sure the chicken is drowning in it.
  • Place in the air fryer grill pan and attach to the air fryer and cook for 10 minutes at 180c/360f.
  • Serve inside burger buns with salad garnish and mayonnaise.

Notes

My cans of tinned tomatoes come in a 400g tin. The spicy sauce we made to make our Wendy’s spicy chicken burgers was enough for four rounds of chicken. Reduce the ingredients by 75% if you don’t want leftovers or freeze some for later like we did.

To save time you can also buy this hot pepper sauce instead of making your own sauce. Because you’re using butterflied chicken it takes a lot less time to cook, making it a delicious quick family lunch or dinner. I used my air fryer grill pan for this recipe. This is because it is quite sticky and is easier to cook in compared to the air fryer basket.
