Ingredients

Instructions

  • Peel and dice the carrots, onion and garlic and place them into the Instant Pot Pressure Cooker. Add a teaspoon of olive oil and sauté for a couple of minutes.
  • Add the tinned tomatoes, mince and seasoning. Give it a good mix so that the tomatoes and mince are well mixed in and so that the mince has started to break down.
  • Place the lid on the Instant Pot, set the valve to sealing and cook for 6 minutes on manual.
  • Manually release pressure, give it a stir and pour over your French baguettes.

Notes

I always use mixed mince. This is a combo of pork and beef mince and cooks much better than just beef or just pork. You can also get a mixed mince of veal and pork which is also delicious. Tinned tomatoes are the god of the Instant Pot.

They have enough liquid in them to bring the Instant Pot to pressure, but not too much that you need to drain the Instant Pot. I use a regular medium can (450g) and this is the brand we use.

We have found the best place to source ground beef to make these homemade sloppy joes is from ButcherBox. You even receive free bacon and $10 off your first order when you sign up with this link.

For Italian seasoning, you can make your own (like mine here) or you can buy this brand who we have used for years.
