Instructions

  • Peel and dice your onion. Peel and grate your garlic. Remove the core and thinly dice the fresh tomatoes. Place them all in the air fryer pan along with your minced beef. Cook for 6 minutes in the air fryer at a temperature of 160c/360f.
  • Make the cheese sauce. Add all the cheese sauce ingredients into a mixing jug and mix well until you have a really thick cold cheese sauce.
  • When it beeps stir, add in the rest of the seasonings, the red wine and the tinned tomatoes and mix well. Cook for another 6 minutes at 160c/360f.
  • Place the almost cooked minced beef mixture into a mixing bowl and drain any excess liquid.
  • Layer your air fryer pan. A layer of mince first, then lasagna sheets, then cheese sauce and continue until you have run out of mince. Add final layers of lasagna sheets and cheese sauce. Add extra cheese sauce on top if you like.
  • Cook in the air fryer for 20 minutes at 160c/360f, followed by a final 20 minutes at 140c/280f.

Notes

Note that here in Europe our lasagna sheets are much bigger and flatter, therefore if using American ones, you will need more of them.
You can use any grated cheese. We used a mix of gouda, cheddar and parmesan.
The reason for the long cook time, is that the way the air fryer works with its air, if you don’t cook it on low it will cook on the top and not in the middle.
Even though cook time for your lasagna isn’t much different the prep and lack of washing up and how wonderful your crispy topping is, in my opinion, makes it a fantastic air fryer recipe.
We used a kilo of minced beef and it was enough for the air fryer oven lasagna and the air fryer basket recipe. It easily served 6 of us. You can adjust the recipe ingredients if feeding less people.
