  • 200 g Plain Flour
  • 2 Medium Eggs
  • 1 Litre Milk
  • 6 Medium Sausages
  • 1 Tsp Thyme
  • Salt & Pepper

  • Preheat the oven to 220c. Place your sausages in a deep casserole dish and cook for 15 minutes.
  • While your sausages are in the oven cooking make your batter. Mix flour and seasoning in a bowl, add your egg and stir with a wooden spoon. Add your milk gradually until you have a nice batter. Add the milk a little at a time so that you don’t end up with a watery batter. Beat well and put to one side.
  • Once your sausages have been cooking for 15 minutes pour over your batter and cook for a further 10 minutes.
  • Serve with mash and gravy.

Toad in the hole is made best with thick sausages so avoid the skinny type.
