Instructions

  • Start by making the cake batter. Mix it as you would if you were making a chocolate cake. Put it to one side once made.
  • Flour the bottom and sides of 8 little cupcake cases so that they will become non-stick.
  • Fill them to 3/4s with the cake batter.
  • Place them in the Airfryer and cook for 7 minutes at 200c/400f.
  • Make the cream frosting. Add the butter, brown sugar, vanilla and soft cheese into a mixing bowl. Mix with a hand mixer until it is smooth and creamy.
  • Place the frosting into the freezer for an hour to help it firm up a little.
  • After an hour using the cake decorating kit, add ¼ of the frosting into the cake decorator.
  • Then in the bowl mix in the cocoa powder with a fork until well mixed and is a beautiful chocolate colour.
  • Spoon in the rest of it into the cake decorating kit and swirl the cupcake layer onto the top of the buns.
  • 10. Fridge for 20 minutes and then serve.

Notes

When you cook the cupcakes you will probably only be able to fit up to 6 in at once (depending on the size of your Airfryer). We did our chocolate cupcakes in 2 rounds of 4.
As you need time for your chocolate cupcakes to cool down before you can add the frosting, I would recommend that you make the frosting while your cupcakes are cooking as it gives you a head start. I had a little extra cake batter leftover, which I placed on top as you just can’t waste cake batter can you?
You can of course make it more chocolately. Some chocolate flavoured soft cheese is amazing as is adding some chocolate sauce.
