Air Fryer Frozen Green Beans

Air Fryer Green Beans

Not just air fryer green beans, but air fryer green beans fries. OMG now this MUST be named as one of those magical ways to cook vegetables in the air fryer.

Next time you are grocery shopping, head to the frozen vegetables section and grab a big bag of frozen green beans.

I will confess now, we don’t buy green beans ENOUGH. That is because Dominic isn’t bothered for them, he loves lots of vegetables, but green beans just doesn’t do it for him.

The kids don’t care what vegetables we serve at meal times, so I go with vegetables that we all LOVE.

We eat a lot of broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, leeks and courgette and don’t get me started by how many tomatoes we eat!

Then when the kids are not looking, we sneak some sprouts onto their dinner plate or in soup, when they don’t realise it is there!

Well I said to Dominic, that even though he is not a big green beans addict that he must join me in a round of these delicious green beans fries.

We had a lot of other food on the dinner table and I was full so hardly touched them, but all I heard across the table was Dominic telling me how addictive they are.

He loved them and its another frozen vegetable that is just perfect for cooking in your kitchen gadgets!

Air Fryer Green Beans + Olive Oil + Seasoning

Air Fryer Frozen Green Beans

I am always looking for an alternative to Air Fryer French Fries, that I can cook in a similar way in the air fryer and then change depending on what vegetables I have in or what seasoning I have in the pantry.

That is what is great about air fryer green beans.

You can grab your frozen green beans, throw them in the air fryer, add a small drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and then add in the seasoning of choice.

If you love:

It is literally is your CHOICE, how you flavour your green beans and that is what is so good about them. I love all the above cuisines, but the kids love Italian, so if I was feeding everyone I would go with an Italian blend.

Frozen Air Fryer Green Beans

I struggle to get green beans here in Portugal. They have their own type of green beans that are somewhat different in size to regular green beans that we all know and love.

I am lucky if I see them for sale in the supermarket once or even twice a year.

My plan B is frozen green beans. I know that no matter what time of the year it is, I am guaranteed that a walk to the frozen food shop and I have as many frozen green beans as my cravings desire.

Using frozen green beans also saves you on the prep work of the green beans and you can tear the bag open and throw them in the air fryer.

Cooking Green Beans In The Air Fryer

The Air Fryer is just PERFECT for cooking green beans in. They slot perfectly into the air fryer basket and you don’t need any further air fryer accessories to cook them with.

You can cook your green beans from frozen and cook them at the same time as other food such as some chicken breast or some white fish.

Don’t think you need a huge air fryer. The Air Fryer we have, that we used to make our green beans in, is the Philips Air Fryer XL and you can order it here or read our Philips Air Fryer Review.

How To Cook Frozen Green Beans In The Air Fryer?

The secret to delicious green beans in the air fryer is to cook them low and then cook them high. This allows the green beans to be fully cooked and then to crisp them up at the end. Otherwise you will end up with soggy green beans and I am sure that is not something that you want to eat.

To enhance the flavour of your air fryer green beans, the seasoning and extra virgin olive oil is added at the start.

You toss your green beans in the olive oil and your chosen seasoning and then place them, while still frozen in the air fryer.

They can then be cooking while you set the dinner table or put your feet up for a few minutes.

  • Shake and cook for a further 3 minutes at 200c/400f.

Notes

We used Italian Seasoning as our choice of flavour for our green beans fries. BUT you can use whatever you like. My favourite is with Garam Masala, but its all about personal choice. Reduce the time from 10 minutes to 8 minutes if your green beans are NOT frozen.
