The Best Air Fryer Oven Chicken Breast. The ultimate quick air fryer chicken breast cooked in a self saucing BBQ sauce in our air fryer oven with absolutely no breading. Easy to adapt for your favourite air fryer chicken marinade.
Air Fryer Oven Chicken Breast
I have owned an air fryer for over 7 years and an air fryer oven for approximately 2 weeks, at the time of writing this. During all those years of addictive air fryer cooking the number #1 meat that we cook the most is air fryer chicken breast.
Air Fryer chicken breast is so addictive and easy to cook too.
Add your favourite air fryer chicken breast marinade, cook in the air fryer until it smells and eat with delicious air fryer potatoes.
I say smells because just like the slow cooker, the smell of just cooked food invades the house a couple of seconds before it dings to tell you it is cooked.
Think about all your favourite chicken breast marinades and remember you could cook any of them in your air fryer. Though for todays air fryer oven chicken breast recipe I am introducing you to the wonderful taste of air fryer chicken breast with a self saucing BBQ sauce.
I call is self saucing because that is exactly what it creates, a sauce that just keeps on giving that you can spoon over the top of your chicken breast for that sticky BBQ sauce that we all love with our chicken breast.
Air Fryer Chicken Breast Without Breading
I know this probably sounds strange to many people, but I like my air fryer chicken breast without breading. I like it just as it is in a sauce and served with potatoes or vegetables or both or like todays recipe over a salad.
Therefore, if you don’t like breaded chicken or are following a breadless diet, then it makes our air fryer chicken breast ideal for you.
You can also sub the ingredients for what you have in your pantry too.
Air Fryer Chicken Breast With BBQ Sauce
The ingredients that I use to make air fryer chicken breast with BBQ marinade are very simple and I am sure you will find them in your pantry:
It is more of an Asian orange chicken breast marinade with BBQ sauce thrown in, but you can substitute it for your preferred flavours.
But the important thing to remember is to make it a delicious sticky chicken breast you need honey, or maple syrup for that sticky glaze. Or in our case we are doubling up the sticky marinade with balsamic crème.
Balsamic crème is just like orange marmalade and gives an amazing flavour.
You can also use your own BBQ sauce or like us use the chipotle sauce by Bullseye.
Oil Less Air Fryer Chicken Breast
Many of my readers ask me if my oil is missing from the list of ingredients. Well in truth it is missing in a lot of my air fryer recipes. That is because when you cook food in the air fryer you need very little or no oil.
Think of the oil allowance like you would if you cooked in the oven, frying pan, deep fat fryer or the skillet. Normally you would oven bake a chicken breast and use zero oil, well the same applies when cooking air fryer chicken breast.
Air Fryer Chicken Breast Time & Temp?
For the best air fryer chicken breast results we recommend a medium temperature and to cook it for 30 minutes. For medium on a classic air fryer it is 180c/360f.
Another thing to remember is the size of the chicken breasts as size can matter a great deal when cooking chicken breasts in the air fryer.
If they are small then you can knock off some cooking time, but if they are huge you need to add time.
Our air fryer BBQ chicken breasts weighed in at 242g each. This is huge for us as the chicken breasts sold in Portugal are often small.
I always recommend that you cut into the thickest part of the chicken breast to check to see if it is cooked before serving. As there is nothing worse than uncooked chicken.
