You’re addicted to searching Pinterest, Google, Instagram & You Tube for new air fryer recipes to try out at home for you and your family.
You find this AMAZING chicken casserole recipe. It is cooked with potatoes and is perfect served with the leftover avocado that you have in the bottom of the fridge. The rest of the family will equally love it and it will fill everyone up thanks to the potatoes. Plus, you can play the healthy card, just because of the avocado and the chicken.
Then you read the INGREDIENTS list…..
You see the words “leftover rotisserie chicken” or “shredded chicken” and you’re gutted because you have a couple of raw chicken breasts in your fridge and don’t have the time to go out and buy a rotisserie chicken, just for the sake of this shredded chicken recipe.
It’s a real bummer and you go back to searching online for a Plan B.

Our personal complaint here at the Milners is that there are so many recipes out there calling for leftover rotisserie chicken. I consulted my American cousin on this because I couldn’t believe anyone could have any rotisserie chicken left.
Then we swapped notes and I realised that their chickens and are the size of our medium turkeys. I am talking about 4 times the size of ours. So, no wonder we never have any leftover rotisserie chicken and they do.
Our air fryer rotisserie chickens barely feed the 5 of us and we will even row over the last chicken wing and even the chicken carcass looks small!
That is why I decided it was about time that I put together a series of shredded chicken recipes with one for each of the main kitchen gadgets. That way at home you can make your own leftover shredded chicken/rotisserie chicken and then each time a recipe calls for it, you can put a quick chicken breast in your gadget and you have an easy answer to your problem.
Today we are focusing on Air Fryer Shredded Chicken. A couple of chicken breasts that are marinated, then cooked in the Air Fryer. Then a simple shred on the chopping board and you have the BEST EVER Air Fryer Shredded Chicken.
To do this I use my favourite accessories for the air fryer and that is the air fryer baking pan. They slot perfectly inside the air fryer and are perfect for when you are cooking with a sauce, because then you don’t have a lot of mess to clear up once you are done.
Of course, you can change the marinade to what you have in and best of all you have a quick option for whenever you need shredded chicken.

How To Make Shredded Chicken In The Air Fryer
#1 Place the chicken marinade ingredients into the air fryer grill pan. Then mix them well.
#2 Add your chicken breast and cook in the air fryer for 15 minutes.
#3 Shred it into delicious air fryer shredded chicken.
And as Gordon Ramsay says “done”.

Air Fryer Shredded Chicken
- Add all the marinade ingredients into the air fryer baking pan and give it a good stir.
- Place the chicken breasts into the marinade and season the top of the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
- Cook inside the air fryer for 15 minutes at 180c/360f.
- After 5 minutes of cook time slice the chicken breasts into thirds and pour over some of the marinade into the gaps. This will enhance the flavour and allow the chicken breasts to cook quickly.
- When the chicken is cooked place it onto a chopping board and allow it to cool for a minute or two.
- Using a knife and fork shred the chicken into small pieces.
The greatest thing about my air fryer shredded chicken is that its equal amounts of all the marinade ingredients. This makes it very easy to be able to multiply the recipe or use the recipe when you’re travelling.
