Air Fryer Steak & French Fries. Delicious steak and fries cooked the French way in the air fryer with delicious rump steak and homemade fries.
If you live in Europe, then there is a good chance that you grew up on Steak and Fries. Or maybe your mum wanted it to sound really posh, so she would use the Belgian and French wording of Steak Frites.
Or if you grew up in the UK (like me) then you probably called it good old steak and chips.
I was very lucky growing up and thanks to family holidays I had the chance to try it in the UK, Spain, Portugal and France. Though it was always the nicest when we had it in France.
You would always get a piece of rump steak with some garlic butter and a side portion of French Fries.
You could then add on extra sides that you wanted. Often this would be onion rings or fried tomatoes. I loved both of them and it was too hard to choose a favourite.
Air Fryer Steak & French Fries
To make steak and French fries in the air fryer is incredibly simple and once you have made it, there will be no going back, and you will want to make it time and time again.
Because the rump steak takes a lot less time to cook than the French Fries you start by peeling, chopping and starting the cooking process of the fries first.
Plus as we use olive oil to cook it with, it can add a great flavouring to the fries before the steak enters the air fryer.
Then while the fries are cooking pound your steak with a tenderiser.
Then when your fries have just 6 minutes of cooking time left, you can add the steaks on top. Then when the steak has finished cooking in your air fryer the French fries will be ready too.
The wonderful thing about making air fryer steak and fries together is that the juices of the steak dribbles down onto the fries and makes the fries taste AMAZING.
Air Fryer Steak & French Fries
- Peel and chop your potatoes into French Fries. Place them in a mixing bowl and season them with salt and pepper. Pour in the bacon olive oil and mix with your hands so that all the oil coats the fries.
- Place the French Fries in the air fryer and cook for 10 minutes at 175c/350f.
- Pound the steaks with a tenderiser and season with salt and pepper.
- When the air fryer beeps give the French fries a shake and make sure none are stuck to the air fryer basket.
- Place the steaks on top of the fries and cook for a further 6 minutes at the same temperature.
- Spread a thin layer of garlic butter over each steak before serving. It will melt because of the heat of the steak.
- Serve the steak and French Fries with your choice of sides.
Where To Source Your Rump Steak To Make Airfryer Steak & French Fries:
In Love Gourmet Bacon Olive Oil
I have always been fascinated with flavoured olive oil. The idea that if you use flavoured you could use at least one less ingredient in your cooking process. By using bacon flavoured olive oil, you can have steak and fries with a steak, fries and bacon flavouring.
Take my bacon for example:
It’s the bacon I buy from my local English supermarket. I don’t eat non-European bacon as I find it is streaky and has a lot more fat in it. But back bacon is something different.
But it sells for 4€ for 10 slices. This is daylight robbery and needs stopping!
My plan B of course is to use this delicious bacon flavoured olive oil instead. Then the next time you want steak, or you are cooking spaghetti in a creamy bacon sauce, then this is your excellent backup plan.
The Love Gourmet Bacon Olive Oil is fantastic because:
- 100 percent satisfaction guarantee
- A little goes a long way
- Adds bacon flavour to healthy dressing recipes
- Cork cap fits snug
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Light, smoky taste
- Narrow bottle doesn’t take up a lot of room in the cupboard
- Olive oil contains monounsaturated fatty acids, a healthier fat option
- Taste of bacon without large quantities of saturated fat
- Use it for just about anything – veggies, meats, potatoes, and even dipping sauces
After opening the bottle of In Love Gourmet Bacon Natural Flavor Olive Oil, I had concerns. It doesn’t smell appetizing.
It has kind of a sweaty-foot odour that was unpleasant. As the saying goes, never judge a book by its cover.
This bacon olive oil is amazing. It tastes so much better than it smells. The product is natural bacon flavouring and extra virgin olive oil. You get the bacon taste without all the sodium and excessive amounts of fat.
Given the taste, I was excited to put it to use. It is absolutely amazing for sautéing vegetables and making fries in the oven or air fryer.
It’s perfect in healthier homemade dressings. My real weakness is sourdough baguette and this oil paired with diced raw garlic and fresh herbs made an amazing dipping sauce for the bread.
In Love Gourmet’s bacon-flavoured olive oil was surprising. If you love bacon but hate how fatty it is, this oil is a must.
There is one thing you should know about the natural bacon flavour. If you have a sensitivity or allergy, you should be aware that the flavouring contains a small amount of soy.
Overall – I was pleasantly surprised by this oil. I had reservations that bacon and olive oil would go well together, but they really do.
I will be keeping this on hand for veggie and pasta salads, dressings, and homemade mayo. In Love Gourmet Bacon Natural Flavor Infused Olive Oil is simply that good.
