Crockpot Hot Chocolate recipe. A dream come true in winter, when you quickly mix your hot chocolate ingredients in the slow cooker/crockpot and then leave it cooking. Then keep it warm and have it throughout the day to keep you warm during these winter months.
Have a Netflix marathon and just pour yourself a big mug of hot chocolate as you want it.
Actually, I think that is the dream isn’t it? To sit in front of a warm fire when it is cold, have a hot chocolate in your hand and watch your favourite Netflix show back to back.
For us our favourite Netflix shows that we have enjoyed recently have been:
- The Good Wife
- House Of Cards
- Friends (seen it many times before)
- Better Call Saul
- Orange Is The New Black
- 13 Reasons Why
I say recently because we only got Netflix for the first time towards the end of the summer, so we have only technically had it for about 4 months. But we are so, so hooked and love our evenings in front of the TV. Plus, our teen loves downloading all of his favourite shows to his mobile phone.
But back to my Crockpot Hot Chocolate…..Recently we have had the flu doing the rounds. A bad cold when no matter what you do, you always feel like death. There is the bad cough, the ear ache, the runny nose, the headaches, the sore throat and the symptoms go on and on.
Okay confession time. I haven’t actually had it and managed to swerve it. But Dominic and Kyle have had it and did look rather rough lately. I don’t know why I get away with it, but I often only catch 1 out of every 3 colds that they have.
Though, this doesn’t mean I ignored the crockpot hot chocolate as some things are just too nice to ignore!!!
It still gives you that comfort feeling, and it is perfect for those lazy Sunday days when you want to just watch TV all day and don’t care for moving from the sofa (well unless you have to).
But it gets better than that! This Crockpot Hot Chocolate has the secret ingredient of ginger tea included in the recipe. Add to this the honey and it is otherwise known as the most natural remedy ever for curing the common cold.
Drink lots of this Crockpot Hot Chocolate and you can be on the way back to health and get rid of your cold twice as quick. Or even better drink this on a regular basis during the winter months and then you don’t to worry about getting a cold at all!
This crockpot recipe is also very simple for when you are feeling ill. Pour everything in. Give it a good stir. Cook on low for a couple of hours. Then serve all day long.

- Place all of the ingredients apart from the mint into the crockpot. Give it a good stir and then leave on low for 2 hours.
- After 2 hours serve with fresh mint and marshmallows.
I always add one portion of ginger tea to the crockpot to make it nice and flavoursome. But if you like a lot of ginger, then adjust to your own taste. You can use any chocolate you like. I used some simple dark chocolate. You could use dark chocolate chips or make it luxurious with some white chocolate.
This Crockpot Hot Chocolate is enough for a family of four to enjoy on a Sunday. If you are a bigger/smaller family then simply adjust the recipe to suit. You may notice that there isn’t a huge amount of sugar in this recipe. This is because it has honey in the tea and sugar from the dark chocolate and really doesn’t need any more than this.
Last weekend we introduced you to the Dieter’s Green Tea & the Chamomile Tea. Both showed you natural remedies and how you can add them to food for the ultimate health boost. Today is our third instalment and shows you how to use ginger tea to make a cold go away.

Our verdict – Can I start by saying how delighted I am with New Midori Trading’s honey ginger tea? GoTo Tea’s Crystal Honey Ginger Tea is the best I’ve had. I have no complaints. The tea comes in a foil package and is in a crystallised form that dissolves quickly in hot and cold water. A box of the tea contains 40 packages and is an excellent value.
Ginger tea is one of my favorite hot beverages. When I go to my local Thai restaurant, ginger tea is the first thing I order. GoTo Tea must be the version they serve because it tastes exactly like the hot and cold ginger tea they serve. I love how the ginger’s spiciness burns the back of the throat and clears any congestion I have from allergies or the occasional cold. During cold and flu season, I highly recommend keeping caffeine-free ginger tea on hand. Add a slice of lemon for the vitamin C, too.
There are only three ingredients. You have dehydrated ginger extract, crystallised honey, and sugar. It’s the perfect balance of the spiciness of ginger and sweetness. You taste the honey, but it’s not overly sweet like so many presweetened teas. While many tea beverages tend to have about 20 grams of sugar per serving, the Crystal Honey Ginger Tea has just 7 grams. The tea also has 25 to 30 grams of fibre, a trace amount of calcium, and a small amount of protein.
In addition to being a very tasty hot or cold beverage, Crystal Honey Ginger Tea is a great addition to recipes. Make it as you normally would and then use the tea in place of water in favourite recipes. I made some delicious lemon-ginger scones with this tea. It’s also a perfect addition when you want to enhance your hot chocolate like we did above with our Crockpot Hot Chocolate.
Overall – My personal thoughts are that you need to Buy GoTo Tea’s Crystal Honey Ginger Tea. The foil packets keep the tea mix fresh for a long time. They’re easy to carry with you to work. The price for a 40-count box is outstanding.
While the value is exceptional, the versatility of this tea is another reason you can’t miss out. You can drink it hot on a cold winter’s day iced when the heat and humidity start to get overbearing. You can use the tea to make hot chocolate, scones, brownies, and so many other baked goods. Use it to create a teriyaki marinade for your favorite meat or vegetables. The list of possibilities is endless. New Midori Trading’s ginger tea is a real treat. You don’t want to miss out.
Best Feature – For us the best feature has to be that I can just see it being used in so, so many recipes. With 40 sachets of ginger tea, I could even be frugal and use ½ a sachet in each recipe. That is 80 recipes from one box of ginger tea.
