Grilled tomatoes must be one of my favourite foods ever. Or I should say just give me any fresh tomato and I am HAPPY. I love the taste and the smell especially when tomatoes are still on the vine.
Dominic rolls his eyes as I walk around the supermarket and sniff the tomatoes and insist on getting the more expensive tomato just because it smells better.
Then I will have them in the front of the car with me and will have eaten them all before Dominic has driven us home.
They can then be paired with a full English Breakfast, a side for your steak and chips, as a breakfast when you follow the Whole30 or Paleo, or just as a healthy snack.
I like them no matter what shape of size my tomatoes come in. I love cherry tomatoes and eat them like a packet of crisps.
I remember visiting someone with Sofia once. She gave me this huge pot of cherry tomatoes and I had eaten them all before we got home!
I reckon that my love for fresh tomatoes started when I was younger than Sofia. My Grandad had an allotment and used to grow them. I would watch them grow, help him water them and make sure once they were developed enough, that I got the lions share.
But give me tomatoes any way you like, and I will eat them.
One of the first things I ever cooked for Dominic when we moved in together was a sausage casserole with loads and loads of tomatoes.
You have got to love tomatoes as much as me, to put up with them as often as I eat them!
Grilled Tomatoes In The Air Fryer
My favourite thing about the air fryer is the simplicity. The fact that you can just lightly season some food, place it in the air fryer and then let it cook. Then when it beeps serve it.
The second-best thing about it, is the fact that it cooks food that you normally associate with lots of calories for hardly any.
There is absolutely no oil involved in my grilled tomatoes in the air fryer. You literally slice them in half, season them and air fry.

Chop the tomatoes in half so that they are of equal sizes and so that each tomato has a bottom.
Place the tomatoes in the air fryer on top of the air fryer grill pan.
Sprinkle with salt, pepper and oregano.
Cook for 8 minutes at 180c/360f and then for a further 5 minutes at 160c/320f so that it can cook in the middle.
When cooking them and checking if they are done, you should have a wrinkly skin and a fork will easily fit through the tomato core without any effort. Our size of tomatoes that we used weighed 177g each.
Remember to adjust if your whole tomatoes are a different size. Go for fresh beefcake tomatoes that still have the odd bit of green on them. They will cook much better if they are. Aim for similar sized tomatoes otherwise you will have some overcooked and some undercooked.
