Welcome to my latest Instant Pot recipe and this recipe is for Instant Pot speedy salmon and broccoli recipe. If you want the perfect Paleo lunch that is both filling and nutritious then you’ve found it!
Yesterday on the blog I showed you how to steam broccoli in it. The idea is that we were starting with something incredibly simple so that you could build up your skill set and confidence when it comes to using your Instant Pot.
Just like you, I am brand new to the idea of making delicious recipes in the Instant Pot and it is a learning curve for all of us. Not that there is anything wrong with starting with a cheese cake or a homemade yoghurt, for a lot of us that have never used an electric pressure cooker before this can be really frightening and then if you get it wrong you are likely to leave the Instant Pot in your cupboard forever. But by doing it one step at a time its fun and you are learning something new everyday.
With us doing broccoli yesterday it was only natural that we went ahead and did some salmon today. After all, this is my ultimate favourite healthy lunch.
We lost over 10 stone each between us between 2013 and 2014 and our go to lunch during this time was always steamed broccoli and salmon. If you were wanting a carbs hit we would add some delicious new potatoes to the mix and it was heaven on a plate (don’t worry we will do the new potatoes tomorrow).
We also buy salmon by the fillet when it is on offer at the supermarket, portion it up for the freezer and then have it whenever we want.
At the time we had a three tier steamer but after years of abuse it eventually died and we are so chuffed to have a steamer replacement in the Instant Pot. Plus out of all functions it is by far the easiest to get your head around.

- Instant Pot Duo
- 72 g Salmon Fillet
- 70 g Broccoli
- Salt & Pepper
- Place 160ml of water into the bottom of your Instant Pot and you can measure it out with the cup provided.
- Chop your broccoli into florets and season both the broccoli and the salmon with salt and pepper. Place them both together on the steamer rack.
- Place the lid on your Instant Pot and set the valve to sealing and press steam for 2 minutes.
- Once it has started it will beep and it will beep 6 times when done. Once it has cooled down from keep warm mode you can get it out.
Remember our portion sizes are small as we have them for a small lunch. Therefore if you wanted to double the size then please add an extra minute to your cooking time.

Done 10 minutes after our first post, and Dominic is in the kitchen making some salmon and broccoli. This time I am getting a lecture telling me it better not ruin his salmon as he pays good money for it.
Next thing I look up and I have delicious salmon added to my plate of broccoli. I can’t believe it has actually cooked it is so fast that I didn’t manage to eat my first portion of broccoli first!
