Welcome to how to make French toast in the Airfryer. French toast bread loaded with cinnamon and a splash of sugar for the ultimate French toast recipe. Perfect comfort food via the Airfryer that both adults and kids alike will love.
Those of you that have been following along for a while will know that I am addicted to simple foods that can be cooked in the Airfryer. Also many of these Airfryer recipes are also rather frugal and perfect for families.
We also have a lot of fast food classics made into healthier food such as burgers, fries, onion rings and even chicken nuggets. But one avenue in the Airfryer that we rarely focus on is breakfast. It is not that we are against breakfast as it’s the best meal of the day, but because we are always thinking about our main meals. But breakfast in the Airfryer is terrific and French toast is a MUST!
I have featured this version on the blog before with a delicious fruity topping and it has become one of my daughters all time favourites. Plus our readers have loved it too with more than 5000 people sharing it.
You see our little girl is a fussy eater.
She likes a whole range of food and getting fruit and vegetables down her is not a problem. I can’t even have a little fruit to myself, she will be behind me shouting “PLEASE” in her cute little 2 year old voice. It must be at least 18 months since I have been able to enjoy a banana to myself.
She also loves pasta, meat, beans and of course bread.
But we can have one day when she refuses to eat anything to one day when she polishes every meal. We are always waiting for her to finish and her little brother that is just over a year old will eat everything and anything without question.
I know I should be grateful.
After all many parents complain that their kids won’t eat fruit and veg, but it would be nice to know how much she is going to eat, or whether or not she is going to eat at all.
But one thing she will eat straight away is French toast and she absolutely worships cinnamon. It is her go to food and so much healthier in the Airfryer too.
I use real French Bread Sticks in my Airfryer French Toast and when you taste it when it is cooked it is like cinnamon doughnuts. No wonder Sofia will eat them no matter what!
They are also about 90% less calories than cinnamon doughnuts and taste just as good!
The benefit of learning how to make French toast in the Airfryer is that it’s so simple. It’s actually shockingly simple.
I love teaching my kids to cook from a young age. Therefore Sofia will sit on the worktop and mix the milk and egg together while I crack the eggs in for her. Then she will learn how to sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar on top of the cooked French toast. Though I have to keep a very close eye on her, otherwise she will put a whole jar of cinnamon into her French toast.
They are also great fun to cook and you can also use the most stale of French bread that you have and then get excited by how good they look once cooked.
Another benefit of learning how to make French toast in the Airfryer is that it is free of oil. Traditionally you might have made it in a frying pan with some butter or olive oil. But this version is totally oil free.
Once we have finished cooking our French toast in the Airfryer you can throw it all in the dish and then serve it to your kids.
Though it’s not just for kids as I love French toast too. You can also make it with different flavours, different shapes and even as croutons. It’s just something fun and quick that anyone can make, after all if I can teach a 2 year old how to make French toast then anyone can make it in the Airfryer.

- Place the egg and the milk into a mixing bowl and whisk with a fork until well mixed.
- In a shallow bowl mix together the sugar and cinnamon and then put to one side.
- Chop the bread into medium sized pieces and then place into the egg bowl.
- Make sure each piece of bread is well submerged in the mixture. Then remove any excess liquid from each and place all the bread into the Airfryer in the grill pan.
- Cook for 3 minutes on each side at 180c/360f in the Airfryer.
- When the Airfryer beeps toss the bread (using tongs) in the sugar and cinnamon and then serve.
Please make sure you remove the excess liquid from the bread before cooking it otherwise it will end up soggy when cooked.
Also make sure that your bread is stale or leave it out in the sun for a couple of hours, otherwise it wont be hard enough and will just have the soggy effect. The thickness of the French bread slices is the same as a double slice of wholemeal bread (if put together).
